I have recently started using a blacklight on some investigations. We were investigating a place that had a really large room and our cam's did not want to reach to the other side of the room and hallway. If you do not have extra illuminators, then this is a much cheaper way to go. It brightens the room up and gives it the fine green view that will surely show any paranormal activity far away.

Make sure (if you use one) to put the blacklight on the backside or bottom of the cam's at least five feet away for large blacklights, this is because you do not want the blacklight itself in the cams view. Also to note that it could show light, white items up with a purple hue.
